Pittheus of troezen, aethra: do not open your wine skin until you have reached athens . Aegeus was puzzled and didn"t know what the oracle meant. It meant the next person he would sleep with would produce a male heir: aegeus slept with aethra, the daughter of pittheus, afterward aethra left aegeus and waded out to the island of sphairia and then. Significance: justice and order, they met the same fates that they had dealt people, comparable to heracles, except he was facing people opposed to monsters. His father saw the black sails and assumed theseus was dead and committed suicide leaving theseus in charge of athens. Amazons: antiope/hippolytae and hippolytus: takes the queen of the amazons, he fathers a son by her, hippolytus, the amazons attack athens but the athenians were victorious. This is displayed prominently on the parthenon; the pinnacle of civilization and the amazons were the complete opposite.
