Perseus is from argos, but becomes the king of tiryns. Birth: acrisius, king of argos, only had one daughter danae. He received a prophecy that the son of danae will kill him. He locked danae up in a bronze chamber so no one could impregnate her but zeus comes to her in a golden rain and she gets pregnant and has a son. Exposure to the sea: acrisius ended up placing danae and perseus into a chest and setting them out to sea. (chest represents the womb and the grave: cf. Seriphos: dictys discovers them and helps them by giving them a home. Dictys brother, wants danae but perseus always interferes: perseus told polydectes he would get him anything you want in place of his mother. Chthonic and olympian, winged so heavenly, snake haired similar to gaea the goddess of the ground: reversal of the castration of ouranos. Cutting off the head of medusa represents the female genitals.
