Document Summary

Provides a striking recreation of life in pompeii. Think about how scientists were able to piece together the picture/snapshot of the town at the moment it was buried. Movie notes: a volcano blew up and killed many people that lived in the city of pompeii and herculaneum. The people were burned and buried in ashes: all that remained in the city were the names and art work, a farmer in the early 1800 found an underground ruin and archeologist went in and searched. They found herculaneum, the city that was buried. However, a lot of the city is still buried by volcanic rocks. Teachers taught outside and children sat on the floor with little regard to weather: the city of pompeii were great consumers of bread, archeologist found perfectly planted seeds of pompeii. Between 6-7 am august 25hth the volcano erupts and destroyed the city and burned the entire population of pompeii.
