Sometimes sex and gender are used interchangeably which is incorrect. Sex is the biological traits like genitalia and chromosomes. How are we shaped by these biological categories. Its just the meanings that are assigned to the bodies that are not real. Gender is one of the largest categories that turn physical bodies into social bodies. Babies from long ago used to all wear white dresses until the age of 7 no matter the sex. The body that we are born in does not determine what we will like. The way that gender is socially constructed is not uniform across the planet, it is concentrated. Gender norms are socially acceptable ways of acting out gender. They are ubiquitous- appear to be normal but are not. In the 70s women started entering the workforce more. Difference between masculinity and femininity are culturally nurtured. If what youre doing is not feminine, it is automatically masculine and vice versa.
