Political economy is the interplay between economics, law and politics, and how institutions develop in different social and economic systems, such as capitalism, socialism and communism. Political economy analyzes how public policy is created and implemented. Women in the global economy: continuities, disruptions, and contradictions. High educational attainment, new aspirations, increased economic opportunities, changing family and social norms. Adverse inclusion: loss or erosion of male wages, contracting public sectors, shrinking social budgets, higher cost of living, reduced household incomes, lower levels of unionization. The paradox of simultaneity : growing economic power and the growth of precarious employment and feminization of poverty. Structural gender inequalities may persist despite individualized advancement of some women and men. Collapse of business sector has caused many men to lose jobs. Women are increasingly better educated than men but suffer higher levels of un/underemployment and lower wages compared to their male peers.
