Lecture 014 - hypothesis testing iv - two sample tests for means. Comparing a sample value to a larger population whose parameters are assumed to be known. Comparing the parameters of two different populations, neither of whose individual values are assumed known. Don"t make assumptions about the 2 parameters. In this scenario (no oc use, then oc use after), was a 2-tailed scenario since it was matched-pairs. Each data point in the first sample is matched and is related to a unique data point in the second sample. In other words: everyone who looks at the data would be able to match it in exactly the same way (also long as they have all the information, and without consulting each other) The leaf sizes for oak trees grown in sand are compared to leaf sizes of oak trees grown in soil. Not a matched pair because you need all the trees in each area.
