Survey of some new policing techniques and strategies developed in the name of terrorism. Police is the bureaucracy formally sanctioned by the state with the specific tasks of order maintenance and crime control. They achieve institutional autonomy in the means and objectives of their activities because they rely on a purposive-rational logic to employ the technically most efficient means and develop professional systems of knowledge. Policing, on the other hand, refers to the practices, techniques, and strategies aimed at the regulation and control of a community; especially concerned with the maintenance of public order, safety, health, morals, etc. Militarization: police agencies are becoming increasingly militarized, often justified by the threat of terrorism.
