Socially constructed gender roles a(cid:396)e ofte(cid:374) la(cid:271)elled as (cid:858)(cid:373)as(cid:272)uli(cid:374)e(cid:859) a(cid:374)d (cid:858)fe(cid:373)i(cid:374)i(cid:374)e(cid:859: traditional masculine leadership = in charge, competitive, self-reliant, decisive, etc, the fact that we observe these differences speaks to the power relations that exist (male dominant) Culture = pattern of knowledge: effective leaders need to have an appreciation for multiculturalism to build inclusiveness, collaboration, and common purposes, conscious awareness of culturally informed assumptions. The relational leadership model embraces the belief that all cultures and their beliefs need to be valued.
