Document Summary

Social action is ideally from a motivated actor within different social systems that are well integrated and complementary to instill values. Look out for ***, these indicate things the professor has said to pay attention to in the readings. Link parson"s theories (esp. the societal levels) to stratification, are they similar? (***big clue for test***) Systems are made of order and the interdependence of parts: major concern is integration and order of different social systems, only then can we insure that order is maintained. Everything from local, micro levels- up to macro, global levels. The smallest level of system is you. Everything can work separately but they rely on each other: if something doesn"t function well it can"t work with other systems. The system, and all the sub-systems, strive for equilibrium: it is natural to want to have equilibrium, we are more comfortable with a balanced functioning status quo. When something disrupts the order we feel uncomfortable and unnatural.
