Crimes against the public order: public nudity, public intoxication, prostitution, forging credit cards. Since 2014, the crime severity index has increased. Measures both the volume and severity of police reported crime. Each violation is assigned a weight, which depends on the violation"s incarceration rate and the average length of the prison sentence handed down. Crime rates in the us since the 1990"s has gone down. But the incarceration rate has gone through the roof. Availability of abortion declining crime rate: children were growing up without proper upbringing causing them to be more involved in crime (not socialized properly) Mass incarceration caused 5% decrease in crime rates. Criminological effect of prisons: people learn to be better criminals when they are in jail. The lead crime hypothesis: there used to be a lot of lead in gasoline un-leading of gasoline: less personality traits that would be criminal. New types of technology to combat crime.
