Folkways: informal rules for acceptable behavior within a group ex: eiquete, manners, civil conduct, grooming, nonverbal behavior. Mores: formal rules for conduct within a group. Conformity: most people conform most of the ime. Acceptance: membership in society is principally a quesion of acceptance. Within sociology, it is taken as axiomaic (assumed) that most people desire acceptance. Informal social control: sancions/consequences applied to individuals violaing folkways. Formal social control: sancions applied to individuals violaing mores. Agents of formal social control: people who have power to label you, or hope to grab your atenion ex: police; military; state; teachers; social workers; doctors; psychiatrists.
