Behaviourism: school of psychology emphasizing that human behaviour is predictable in particular situations. Mead disagreed: humans are self-reflexive (think about themselves as an object) so human interaction is more complex. Pragmatism: strand of philosophy that emphasizes the practical aspects and practical consequences of social action and interaction. Organizes our experiences of the past, present and future. Is both conventional (perpetuates the status quo) and innovative (makes change possible).
