When we paint a pretty picture of globalization, there are some positives that come from globalization. Ex: spread of information, and technology, and access. Late modernity : increase in capitalization, globalization, neoliberalism, and free trade. Neoliberalism : individualistic ethos, and the corporate pattern of consumption. Ideology that has to do with free trade. Want to think its positive for everyone, but doesn"t always benefit everyone. Theres no such thing as fair and free. Over half of the worlds wealth is owned by one percent of population. Wealth of the richest people in the world : 130 trillion dollars. Top one percent earn 65 times more than the bottom 50 percent. Bottom half the worlds population has the same amount as the richest 85 humans. Just over 3 billion people live on less than two dollars a day. Gross domestic product of poorest 48 countries around the world is equal to the wealth of the richest three people.
