Uses marxist language to discuss the different phases/aspects. Extraction: natural resource exploitation = trashing the planet, ex. Cutting down trees, using water, wiping out animals: running out of resources (using too much, 1/3 natural resources are gone, use resources from the third world planets gives value. The means by which something is produced: 16% of the world(cid:495)s population (live in (cid:883)st world countries) consume 86% of the world(cid:495)s goods. Pillows are dipped in neuro-toxins and we sleep on them: toxics build up the food chain of toxins, both people, resources and communities are wasted. Loss of clean air: we do not know the true cost of the things we buy. Consumption: top priority, nation of consumers, you are what you buy, primary identification is consumers, 1% of products, still un use after 6 months change the way things look, advertisements and media play a huge role. Cannot run a linear system on a finite planet indefinitely.
