We can"t talk solely about theory without discussing research methodology (data collecion) We test our theories by gathering research, and theories may shit or change. Theories help us to make sense of what we have observed. We are constantly driving new hypotheses: data collecion can lead us to changing our hypotheses, we constantly test with new observaions. Researchers want to be as objecive and value-free as possible: we are seeking to ind the truth of whatever the subject mater is. Steps to undertaking research: deining the topic of invesigaion. Someimes people study things perinent to their own lives. Your research has to focus on something original: find out what others have learned about the topic. What methods have been applied to the data. What others have found in the past: assess the requirements for carrying out the research. The amount of ime you have to do research.
