The average canadian family no longer comes together for a family meal. Emoional: good emoions come with geing together, wonderful memories, times of well-being, friendship, and love. There is also more conlict and arguments that occur when the family gets together for a meal at imes like thanksgiving and easter. Violence is also linked to people coming together for the family meal. It helps us understand social interacions with others: eg. someimes kids are taught to eat everything on their plate (though this can someimes lead to obesity), they were taught correct discipline and table manners. We are raising and socializing more children who are eaing too much and partaking in less acivity (a more sedentary lifestyle) In quebec, obesity is on the rise in people over the age of 20: over 50% of premature deaths are linked directly to diet, family can play a criical role in this challenge.
