Mono-normaivity: the ways in which our culture normalizes monogamous relaionships and, consequently, sigmaizes any romanic or sexual relaionship that is non-monogamous. Monogamy is seen as normal, natural, and ideal. What leads to high rates of inidelity and divorce: lack of communicaion of needs. At least some commited monogamous couples have a problem with emoional stability: expectaions not being met. Connected in many ways to gender eg. a man may assume his wife will always be sexually available, a woman may assume that her husband will always be a good listener. Sociologists quesion whether behavioural problems with children is the result of the divorce itself or the sigma associated with divorce.
