Quantitative: specific, preplanned research question (linear, testing hypothesis/theory (deductive) and causal relationships (explanatory, analysis and finding for theory verification (supported or not) Characteristics of units that can vary, have different values, categories, or attributes for different observations. May vary over cases, time, or both. Explanatory variables that are the main object of study: dependent variable (dv): outcome variable.
