Describe and explain how neighbourhood condiions are associated with health. Look at the role that neighbourhood disorder plays in the relaionship between neighbourhood disadvantage and health (ross and mirowsky) Be able to concretely apply knowledge of neighbourhood condiions and how these impact health. A lo of research we talk about is highly focused on the individual, and not so focused on context. Researchers argue for the important of taking context into account (i. e. , family, work, etc. ) Neighbourhood is one such context: one could say that everyone lives in a neighbourhood, we need to understand how the neighbourhood provides a context for life, which can have an impact on health. Ambient stress: stress from the environment; day to day things that are constantly worrisome to us (e. g. , living in a bad neighbourhood, a noisy apartment building) Just as condiions within our homes have important implicaions for health, neighbourhood condiions also have major health efects.
