Sports in society: chapter 6 sports and deviance. Exam april 27th at 7pm: use handouts for tips on what to study, takes text right out of the textbook. Winning takes care of everything so his personal life shouldn"t matter in his golfing people should only care about the sport, but now that he is winning people have forgotten about the cheating scandal. Some people believe it should be separated and some believe its them as a person and a player. Should this be left to people in sports, or is it a community issue: fighting after the whistle, etc, we allow certain things in sports. Using functionalist theory to define deviance if something is going to disrupt society, functionalists would look for a solution to fix this in order for society to be harmonized, they want to try and control it.
