See it all the time but don"t always see what"s going on. Most people think the media affects other, but not themselves. Most people think that their ideas come from the media. Most people think that they are immune from it. Large part of media culture is that it represents genders in our society o o. Advances those ideals on what"s the best way to be based on who is presented. Influence on our views from advertising may be more powerful than other forms of media. Less likely to be conscious of the content vs. more structured forms of media. Certain qualities are assigned to each sex (might not be good) At 24 hours of age, parents already treat boys vs. girls differently. Functional ranking depicts women being associated with the home: where people stand in society, women are depicted in the home (and private activities within the home)
