Scienti c management seeks to use research and formal principles to reorganize the labour process to increase e ciency and productivity: scienti c management, fordism, said to decrease skill. Under scienti c management, workers are to be given little leeway in determining what they do, how they do it or how fast they work: fordism: assembly line; increase in mass production with the use of technology. Expansion of managerial, professional, and other planning jobs implies increase.
