Three types of crimes: street crime in london, this is what we are most concerned and threatened by; more likely to suffer injuries, possible death, occupation, white-collar, corporate crime, organized crime. Data collection issues: inconsistent b/w different places, or different grouping strategies for types of crimes. Highest crime rates were found in 1992, but has been declining ever since. Looked at total crimes, property crimes, violent crimes, and other crimes. Property crimes were always more common than violent crimes; violent crimes have remained relatively the same over this time period. Tends to be young people that are committing crimes; as our population ages, the crime decreases. Could also be about drug and alcohol consumption, changing attitudes about behaviors and laws, unemployment rates, aging populations, etc. Homicides and attempted murders in canada from 1967-2017. Homicides are consistent and reliable reporting b/c you have the dead body.
