It may depend on the person (some people are more resilient and the same parenting style may not have the same impact on different kids: for some kids, parenting quality may matter. In the context of attachment relationships, the quality of parenting mattered. It doesn"t have to be your biological parent who helps to guide you. Don"t let them get away with anything. Teach academic skills before children go to school, work with them outside of school (don"t rely solely on the public school system) Controlling emotions through guilt induction, love withdrawal, intrusiveness. Eg. being told that you wouldn"t be loved anymore if you did something wrong, getting the silent treatment.
