Synaptic pruning- the way the brain becomes customized to an individuals experiences. 100 billion neurons created during prenatal development. Each neurons is associated with 10,000 synapse. Synaptic pruning begins 24 weeks prenatal: why is this needed?-> (cid:449)e do(cid:374)"t keep thi(cid:374)gs info in one brain equivalent to all info on internet (cid:449)e do(cid:374)"t (cid:374)eed. Myelination (white matter) e closes axons: fatty insulating material. Sensory, motor areas myelinated first, prefrontal cortex last is your pfc fully myelinated?- (cid:374)o (cid:374)ot till your (cid:373)id 20"s. Smaller brain size (neurons die or stunted) Part of nervous system that detects input from the environment. Involves sensory rececetors, neural pathways, and parts of brain. How would a baby experience a sunset-> vision would be the biggest constraint: what is perception. Pull them apart for convenience, but the divide is fuzzy and sometimes arbitrary.
