The more connections you have, the more difficult it is to retrieve facts. Activation spreads to all the outgoing links, which takes longer time to retrieve or recognize information. Can reduce interference when there is stronger activation coming from other areas. Measures how long it takes to answer true or false. Hypothesis: takes longer for greater fan (e. g. hippie was mentioned 3 times bigger fan than layer mentioned once) Recall: bringing the fact back, producing it from memory.
