Brendan milner was the psychologist who did most of the cognitive/neurocognitive work. Capgras syndrome is the result of a disconnection between a cognitive appraisal and a sense of familiarity. Once a cell fires, the neuron that transmits information to another location is the axon. Visual input: low level vision edges, motion, depth, etc. Daniel kish is blind but relies on echolocation. Activation in visual cortex during an echolocation task. The cortical map is feature specific &spatially coherent, similar to sighted individuals: these activation patterns imply that echolocators can process visual images in the absence of visual input. Synaesthesia multiple modes are combined: pairing a letter w/a colour so you always see that letter as a certain colour. The brain does not receive raw data, but processed information. The flow of information from the outside physical world to the internal mental world.
