Language sets us apart from animals; even animals that seem to be able to produce human language still don"t have the same language system as humans: with language we identify with your culture. The best way to learn about someone"s culture is to learn the language: communicate our thoughts and feelings, express personal and cultural identities. Languages for the point of enjoyment (jokes, poems etc. ) What is language: system of language of symbols and rules used to communicate, symbols: are things (words) that stand for other things, rules: specify how symbols are used. Derivational morphology: changes to a word that alter its underlying meaning. Drive and driver, the words are still related but when refers to an action and the other the actor. Inflectional morphology: changes to a word that don"t alter its underlying meaning. The other word still refers to the action.
