Eyewitnesses can be wrong, but also very conident in their wrong answer: this maters in the real world because judges and juries rely on eyewitnesses to decide guilt, conidence can change over ime and isn"t well-matched to accuracy. There have been 233 people exonerated in the u. s. due to dna analysis (at the ime of the program), of which were sent to prison because of eyewitness tesimony. The story: a woman (jennifer) was raped at knifepoint, and she was focused on studying him so that if she survived, she would be able to give details. She got away and worked with a detecive to come up with a composite sketch. A ip came in for a man (ronald coton) who worked near her house and had a record for a b&e. She studied each photograph presented to her in a photo lineup and then came to ronald coton and said that was the man who raped her.
