The neo-pi-r: costa & mccrae implemented factor analysis and the theoretical strategy to develop items and construct scale. Three broad domains in early versions of scale: n, e, o. Openness to experience: willingness to make life adjustments, openness to new ideas and situations, characterized by creativity, intellectual curiosity, and having a wide variety of interests. Scales: conventional original, unadventurous daring, conforming independent, unartistic artistic. Individual differences in planning, organizing, carrying out tasks: competent, orderly, dutiful, achievement-oriented, self-disciplined. Strongly associated with academic and occupational achievement: negative side associated with conscientiousness compulsive neatness, workaholic behaviour. Scales: careless careful, helpless self-reliant, lax scrupulous, weak-willed goal directed. Extraversion: prefer large groups and gatherings, assertive, active, talkative, sociable, enjoy excitement and stimulation. Scales: quiet talkative, aloof friendly, timid bold. Trusting, straightforward, compliant, modest: neither pole of agreeableness is better than the other, generally better to be high, but not too high.
