Nina and bradley fell in love but live in different countries. The need to love and be loves is one of the most fundamental human needs. People are well aware of the risks associated with relationships. Despite the potential for hurt and misery, most people are highly motivated to find love. When participants of various ages were asked what made them happy, many stated making and maintaining friendships or having positive, warm relationships. The absence of meaningful relationships with others makes us feel lonely, worthless, hopeless, powerless, and alienated. Thus, we are especially likely to get to know people who sit next to us in class or who are in our dorm. This increases the probability that we might end up liking these people. This includes people in the city, neighborhood, street. 65 percent of residents in a building mentioned their best friends as people who lived in the same building.
