Lecture + chapter 2 will survey many ways of understanding why a child behaves a certain way. Nurture: early life attachment and the development of emotion regulation. Some theories biological (nature) way brain fires, heredity, etc. Some are nurture-ous how parents raised. Consequences are not negative its whatever happens after the behaviour could be good or bad etc. Immediate environmental triggers (antecedents) and consequences lead to learned behaviours. Children"s problems must be considered in relation to multiple levels of influence - individual, family, community, and culture: factors may be contained w/in child or at various distances from child"s immediate surroundings. Always multiple factors: individual, family, community, culture that impact the present patient. Possible causes of a child"s behavior: biological influences, emotional influences, behavioral and cognitive influences, family, cultural, and ethnic influences.
