There are 3 things we can say about pain. Pain comes in many different forms there seem to be 20 different dimensions of pain. It can be brief or acute and can also be continuous or chronic. Pain is pervasive usually we want to get rid of it but some people like to experience it. Ideal or nah: no headaches or any pain with treatment. The experience of pain is essential for survival. Pain with no apparent physical cause: causalgia (severe burning pain) Pain is strongly influenced by psychological factors: beecher"s observation surgeon during ww2 able to observe severely wounded soldiers only 25% wanted morphine to ease the pain. Civilian patients from surgery the patients experienced far less tissue damage compared to the soldiers but over 80% complained about the pain and requested morphine!! Soldiers pain meant that the war is over and im finally going home pain is good.
