General adaptation syndrome (gas)- a 3 stage process of stress adaptation. Sympathetic-adrenomedullary system-- resonds to stress increases adrenal gland stimulation. Immune system (protects the body against bacteria, viruses etc) Nonspecific immune system-general protection against infections and diseases provided by. Inflammation- nonspecific- increases blood and white blood cells at infection site. Children and sleep disorders- sleep walking, night terrors. Depression, anxiety, stress substance abuse, and social support influences progressioj from hiv to aids. 2 in 5 canadians wll be diagnosed, 1 in 4 will die from cancer.
