Genetics and sex determination: dependent on the x or y chromosome present in sperm, xx -female; xy -male, y chromosome (male) contains tdf (testis-determining factor) gene which initiates development. 23rd pair of chromosomes determines the baby"s sex of testes at around 6-8 weeks: testes then secrete androgen.
