Infotainment is made to make politics light, and not be so interested and skeptical, and disengaging society to make it easier to govern. There are financial influences, the more people you reach the more money you make. If you make it funny, you draw attention, but not to the seriousness of it. Goes back as far back as politics. Audiences for it need to be politically educated. Sometimes said to be made by political elites for political elites. The way the jokes are made, references the ideologies of the person making the jokes. In russia, once putin came to power, he took down a tv show that was a satire and shut down the whole channel.
