Document Summary

Good life needs intellectual virtue, moral virtue and. Good habits are learned to overcome lack of self-control. Going to have to look outside the household to have other people to speak with that is an intellectual equal. We can contemplate there, but it is better when we contemplate with others. Household does some things but not everything can be done here: village. Several households come together, pool resources, have other people to talk to. But still wont be able to get all resources. Will have some equals, but its not enough: polity = city. Problem is that it is too big. People lose the ability to be politically involved (lose access to of ce and ability to make decisions that aristotle values) Generally ruled by tyrants, hard to rule these well. The polity is natural, it is virtuous. Humans are naturally drawn to the polity. This is the place where we can live the good life.
