No one began to study international reltaions until the 20th century. The field really took off in the 1940"s in the united states. Broken up into: international security, international political economy, environmental politics, human rights. Four different levels to analyze events: individual level, domestic/political level, interstate level, global level. Academics have been known to struggle to find explanations to why things have happened, they are very likely to argue. Non-state actors: non-governmental organizations (ngo"s, multinational corporations (mnc"s, transnational networks and movements. The only legitimate political authority over a country, as there is no global government. We have a world of sovereign states, no higher authority in the world. The nation state is an artificial construct: there are many different cultures and nationalities within one nationstate, kurdish nation for example, the kurds reside within turkey, iran, and.
