Geostrategies: territorially-based foreign policy concepts associated with geographic factors. Mahan : state with most control over seapower will dominate. Mackinder: heartland - if you get heartland you can control 3 large continents; inspired hitler. Spykman: rimland - control over coasts - resources: oil, more control, better defence. Kennan: containment: soviet border and then they are surrounded by all other nations they control. To stop them, we must contain them because they are broadening their borders. Dominance must move past geostrategy and will come from air - threaten from above. Next conflicts over fp will be over air.
