The prime minister advises the queen of who to appoint for this posiion. Historic roles: uk monarch"s representaive in canada. Delegate of briish government, tasked with watching over the colonies to make sure they stayed in line with briish wishes: representaive of briish government, symbolic roles (head of state) Ceremonial role: point of uniicaion or ceremony, ambassador of good will. Key dates and events in evoluion of the gg role: 1878- since reservaion not used. Power of reservaion: they could reserve passage of legislaion for consideraion by briish parliament.
