Ludwig feuerbach: we create god in our own image, we alienate our human capacities for knowledge, power, and goodness. Alienation: human essence detached from human existence. What we are and how we live come apart. 2 things that belong together: creative producers whose work is punshing, degrading, commodified, workers life are subject to alien forces. Created in response to poverty and suffering: soul of a soulless future. Religion is opium produces a buzz: painkiller, can render you incapable of flourishing. Alienation from the product: mystified by our own creations, dominated by market forces. Alienation in productive activity: become machines. Alienation from our species-being: social cooperative production, not an expression of individuality but hard labour. All of history up to now is the history of class struggle.
