A state or countries is a sovereign self governed political entity. Set of practices that governments do to protect its citizens or the country itself. By creating an agreement between citizens and the government to continue governing. Setting out laws and making sure they are maintained and obeyed. A group of people who feel bound by a common language, culture, religion, history, or ethnicity. Can be non-territorial and / or non-contiguous. Difference between nation and a state is that a nation is not a clear defined term or border. Nationalism is a political, cultural, and moral concept where emphasis is placed on a shared language, culture, religion, history, or ethnicity. Quebec has has had aspirations to be a seperate state from canada. Canada and countries like it are just states but have nations within them. Sometimes the definitions line up perfectly; greece and italy are considered nation states.
