Recreational drug use: individuals have a right to do drugs o, freedom. Argument to show why we should criminalize pot. Decriminalizing is interfering with someone"s freedom: status quo. Burden is on those who want to change the status quo . Just because something is status quo doesn"t mean its right. Has to be based on protecting the rights of the individual. Burden of proof: people who want to criminalize pot have a burden on them to some how demonstrate that they"re going to take away the rights of individuals to do what they want. Do we as legislators have a right to legislate laws that help people not to harm themselves. Legal moralism something is morally wrong purist position.
