What is religion: the idea of definition, traditionally we understand defining something as giving its necessary and sufficient conditions i. e bachelor: unmarried male. = anything that is a bachelor is an unmarried male/// anything that is an unmarried male is a bachelor. Unmarried is a necessary condition of a bachelor. Male is a necessary condition of a bachelor. Taken together they are a sufficient condition of a bachelor. Problem is that none of these is a necessary condition of religion. All of these aren"t present in all religions. Therefore, no necessary condition, there are no necessary and sufficient conditions. Ludwig wittgenstein [1889-1951] most important philosopher in 20th century.
