Rawls & nozick, john rawls, justice of social arrangements. Rawls is interested in justice as a virtue of social institutions. First: each person is to have an equal right to the most extensive basic liberty compatible with a similar liberty for others; Reward for services contributing to the common good: the meaning of person in these principles. A typical conservative view of equality would hold that persons should enjoy equality of legal rights and opportunities, not of goods and social services. A typical socialist view would hold that persons should enjoy equality of goods and social services.
