We can know something exists even though we don"t understand it. If there is a god, he is infinitely incomprehensible ; reason can decide nothing here . We can"t reason that there is a god when we don"t understand him in the first place. Have to bet = wager (can"t prove it but you picked it anyway) Two things to lose= the true or the good. Two things to shun terror and misery. If you gain, you gain all; if you lose, you lose nothing. Could lead a live with fewer possibilities because you believed in god. More of a feeling of freedom if you don"t think you"re under god. Endeavor to convince yourself, not by increase of proofs of god, but by the abatements of your passions. What reason leads you and where you passions lead you. To believe something is to have reason to believe it. Getting reasons not to get there out of the way.
