Review: language of stats: population all members of a particular group of interest, sample part of the population; subset, variable concept that varies. We study it to describe or explain the variance (difference) that occurs naturally or that we can create through experimental manipulation. Independent variable: controlled or measured by the researcher, e. g. drug dose, dependent variable, outcome variable, e. g. measured responses to drug, research question: is the dependent variable (outcome) related to the independent variable, time order, statistical association.
