In organizations, real power and energy is generated through relationships - Can be positive and lead to relationships. That which enables us to accomplish goals, The faculty or capacity to act: having the resources to act. The strength and potency to accomplish something. To possess power implies the ability to change the attitudes and behaviour of individual people and groups ( davidhizar, 2005) The meaning of power and people"s perceptions of it vary greatly from person to person based on one"s values, beliefs, experiences. The country you live in can influence view on power. Power within family units some places you work in will have a different view on power. Ethnocentric- people perceive the world in the same way. Don"t assume clients will share the same views as you. Adult"s views of power are based on their family experience and childhood. Power is omnipresent because it originates from everywhere (kuokkanen & leino-kilpi, 2000, p. 237)
