Song plugger- a song plugger or song demonstrator was a vocalist or piano player employed by department and music stores and song publishers in the early 20th century to promote and help sell new sheet music. Guys and dolls is a perfect example of 1950s musical comedy. "runyonesque"- a term used because his type of stories were so famous. Listening: "fugue for tinhorns" (rusty charlie, benny southstreet and nicely-nicely johnson), Fugue- something like 4 bars long, the melody that we hear from the first voice or instrument we hear, then taken by other parts and interwoven, maybe a third above etc, "a bushel and a peck" (miss adelaide and the hot box dancers) big jazzy band brass section, classic showgirl character, very 50s club dancing music,
