Film produced in early 2000 on derrida. Founder of post structuralism analysis called deconstruction. Part of deconstruction is to naturalize natural and not to assume what is taught by the signs. Derrida wrote many books and had a long career. Today thinking about his structuralism, his understanding of what was flawed. Talk about the ways notion was taken up and applied in other fields. Anthropology, literary studied. psychology, psychoanalysis, philosophy, sociology. Structuralist approaches were used to analyze very diverse social/ cultural phenomenon. What all these approach had in common was all used language as a model to which to base their analysis. Used saussure as a model and argue by analogy that if language works like this then other things may as well: ex. Argued that culture had a structure that could be understood. Structuralist in all these fields viewed social/ cultural phenomena as bearing meaning and thus as signs.
